This 108 bead knotted mala would make the perfect gift for the yoga lover in your life. Mala beads are used to count the repetitions of your mantra during your meditation practice. Let your mala be a physical representation of your journey.
This mala is an original design and features 108 8mm beads in a combination of Leopardskin Jasper, Snakeskin Jasper, and Rhyolite. The 12mm Guru bead is African Turquoise. This mala measures approximately 40 inches in length, not including the tassel.
* African Turquoise is a beautiful stone that awakens one’s soul to its intended purpose.
* Snakeskin Jasper is a calming and protective earth stone that's believed to guard one's emotional and spiritual well-being from the negative behavior of others.
* Rhyolite is known for its ability to deepen the acceptance of one’s true self. It’s also believed to give inner strength in challenging times and to help heal old emotional wounds.
* Leopardskin Jasper is believed to be a protection stone and is known for its gift of strength, helping to bring stability to those facing external chaos.
All beads are meticulously hand chosen and arranged to ensure each piece flows gracefully from one bead to the next. The beads are strung on a strong nylon cord and individually hand knotted to provide strength and longevity to your mala. Both the thread and tassel are made of nylon, not silk, to help extend the life of your mala and avoid harm to any sentient beings.
This mala features 108 beads + 1 Guru bead, and a tassel. While the personal and spiritual connections to the number 108 may be different for everyone, one belief is that one hundred eight is a sacred number with 1 representing the universe or your highest truth, 0 representing humility in your spiritual practice, and 8 representing timelessness and infinity.
The guru bead is typically larger than the other beads, and is believed to represent the student-guru relationship. After you recite your way around all 108 beads, stop at the guru bead and take a moment to reflect on your intention and your awareness. If you choose to continue, instead of crossing over the guru bead, simply turn the mala around and begin again in the opposite direction.
In the Buddhist tradition, the tassel represents the petals of the lotus flower and path to enlightenment. The lotus flower emerges from the mud and is a beautiful representation of your own transformation.
Our malas, bracelets and jewelry pieces are aesthetically beautiful, but this is the secondary reason to wear them. The primary purpose of wearing our jewelry is because they are made of high-quality gemstones. These stones and crystals were formed over the course of billions of years thus absorbing energy from the earth and sun. Thus when worn close to the skin, these beneficial energies are not only transferred to the wearer but they also help to transform negative energy the wearer may be exposed to or encounter. Therefore we do NOT use plastic or glass beads in our jewelry pieces as they may look nice (at times) but don’t have any significant benefit to the wearer. Know that when purchasing jewelry with Concept YOUtopia, you are receiving beautiful jewelry with a beneficial purpose!
